I have been in Auburn for almost 6 months and had no idea this Arboretum was here. I discovered this while on one of my photo walks- which I highly encourage on this site! On this photo walk, my intention was to really analyze the scene/object, etc. and be more purposeful.
After watching a video on Gestalt theory, I did my best to also take this into consideration. I also watched a recent video from The Photographic Eye that emphasized the point to Stop taking pictures of Nouns- but take feelings instead. These aren’t award winning images, but I do feel I widened my comfort zone on this photo shoot.

Here are a few comments on the images in the Gallery:
The image of the family is one that I took as they were walking by. My shutter speed was still slow from my previous settings (I was getting blur on the waterfall). Anyway, I like how this turned out actually. I think it looks a bit like a painting..
The guy in the hammock looked so relaxed- and what a great place to have one! I couldn’t help but take his picture. He looked so comfortable.
I also took a lot of pictures of the plants/flowers and bridges. I included some of them in the gallery. On one of the bridges I framed using the leaves; I like how it turned out. The Davis Arboretum has beautiful flowers & plant life spread throughout the property.
So if you are a photographer visiting Auburn, AL, I highly recommend this as on the places you visit! And I would love to hear your thoughts on these images.
